Name: Daisy Gómez Cigarroa
Hometown: I was born and raised in El Paso, Texas where I also attended college at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP).
Interests: In my free time, I love baking, cooking, and crafting. I love learning new languages. I am a native Spanish speaker and fluent in French. My linguistics interests include language acquisition and semantics. I love going to museums, art galleries, and watching plays, musicals, movies, and the beautiful El Paso sunsets. When I’m not out and about, you can find me reading.
Past Experience: I have spent the past five years as a community organizer. My areas of expertise are direct actions surrounding the Texas Legislation, organizing protests and marches, and educating the community on the issues of voting rights, LGBTQIA+ equity, reproductive justice, criminal justice reform, and immigration reform. I have worked and volunteered for various campaigns ranging from local elections all the way to presidential elections. I have also been an election worker and election judge. I currently serve on the executive board of the El Paso Young Democrats as their secretary. My community has given so much to me, and I am always looking for ways in which I can give back.
My goal is to bring my passion and meet challenges head-on with poise and determination. Please feel free to email or text me. I’m looking forward to working with you all.
In solidarity,
Daisy
