Explainer: November 2019 Elections
Wait, what? There’s an election going on right now?
Yep! Early voting is going on *right now* ending on Friday, Nov. 1st. Election Day is Nov. 5th.
For what?
No matter where you are in Texas, you’ll be able to vote on ten proposed constitutional amendments.
And depending on where you live, you may have a number of other important contests on your ballot.
Beyond the amendments, some of the biggest things on the ballot around the state include:
- Special elections to vacant state house seats in three districts
- Houston Mayor and City Council Members
- And a looooooong list of elections for things like school board and local propositions
Okay. So how do I know what exactly is on my ballot?
Easy. Our friends at the League of Women Voters created a ballot look-up tool. Just pop over to Vote411.org – enter your address and you’ll get a sample ballot listing everything you’ll have a chance to vote on.
Great. So how should I vote on the constitutional amendments?
We fight like hell to protect and advance your right to vote – but we never people HOW to vote. But – we pulled together a collection of solid info/opinions on the constitutional amendments from well-trusted sources:
